Wortis, Cole, and Levy's Art and Poetry e-Chapbook Release

Updated: Jun 5

The cover to the collaborative e-chapbook Meeting / Listening / Gallivanting: Artwork by Joan Wortis and Donald Cole with texts by John Levy published by Half Day Moon Press in its digital chapbook series as no. 15.

Half Day Moon Press' exciting new e-chapbook release Meeting / Listening / Gallivanting (HDMP 15) is a collaborative work featuring artwork by Joan Wortis and Don Cole alongside John Levy's textual counterparts to the art. The synergy between visuals and verse owes to the long-time friendship of the Tucson-based Levy, author of 56 poems: selected and new (Shearsman Books, 2023), and the long-established artists Wortis and Cole, who share a studio on Vashon Island in Puget Sound. Levy and Cole previously released a collaborative work in 2016 titled float among what sails & spirals (Dovadola Press and Artxchange Gallery). A public reading at the Vashon Center of the Arts in 2016 is captured on video together with Cole's visual pieces. The following pages come from the Cole-and-Levy section of Meeting / Listening / Gallivanting:

A facing-page spread with an painting from Donald Cole at left and an accompanying poetic response by John Levy at right from the e-chapbook Listening / Meeting / Gallivanting published by Half Day Moon Press.
Notes:

This digital chapbook comes in two versions. The first offers a default full-spread view of each visual textual pairing. The second has single-page view (best if set in your pdf reader of choice to double-page view with the first page beginning on the right).

Also see John Levy's earlier mixed-media Half-Day-Moon-Press release: Raining at the Moment (HDMP 3).
